Swiss Presence in Berlin
03.02.2009
The Swiss presence at the 59th International Berlin Film Festival 2009 concentrates on the first half of the event. Shooting star Celine Bolomey is among the ten European acting talents who will be introduced to an international audience of experts from 7 to 9 February and perform in the spotlight of the Berlinale. “Polar”, the new short film by Michael Koch, a co-production of the Zurich production company Dschoint Ventschr, will be shown as part of the series Perspectives of German Cinema.
Michael Koch is by no means unknown: His documentary short film “Wir sind dir treu” three years ago and the short feature film “Beckenrand” two years ago received international acclaim: the films were shown at numerous important festivals and received several awards.
Further films with Swiss participation can be seen in the section entitled “Forum” (International Young Film Forum). The Swiss Sonja Wyss is director of the Dutch film “Winterstilte” (The Still of Winter), and the Zurich company “Das Kollektiv” co-producer of the film “Wu Sheng Feng Ling” (Silent Wind Game) by Kit Hung, a Chinese living in Switzerland.
SWISS FILMS has a stand at the European Film Market (EFM) and accompanies the market showings of various Swiss films. These include the film “Du bruit dans la tête” by Vincent Pluss, which features shooting star Celine Bolomey in the lead role. The Swiss Reception on 8 February, organised by SWISS FILMS together with the Swiss Embassy, has now become a firm fixture on the Berlinale agenda and is a rendezvous for Swiss and international guests.
