10.10.2005

The 32nd International Film Festival, taking place from October 11-22 in the Flemish-Belgian city of Ghent, is showing two Swiss documentary and short films as well as the trilogy “Three Colors Trilogy: Blue/White/Red” (1993/1994) by Polish director Krzystof Kieslowski who died in 1996. In the World Cinema program, the documentary films “Coca – The Dove from Chechnya – Europe in Denial of a War” by Eric Bergkraut (Production: Doc Production, Zurich), and “Life in Peace” by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov will be presented. Also part of this program are the short films “Dors Sophie, dors” (Sleep, Sophie, sleep) by Geneva resident Zoya Anastassova and “Hi Maya” by Claudia Lorenz (thesis film at Zurich Academy of Art and Design).
As a thematic event, the Flanders International Film Festival chose 13 films for its competition illustrating the impact of music on film. With its large number of movies shown in various side-programs and its trade show organized for a professional audience, Ghent (outside of the Namur festival for francophone films) constitutes one of the largest film events in Belgium.
