05.10.2006

At the 33rd Flanders International Film Festival, taking place in the Flemish-Belgian city of Gent from October 11-21, 2006, four Swiss feature films will be shown, among them one co-production and one short film. In its World Cinema section, the festival presents “Nachbeben/Going Private” by Stina Werenfels (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) and “Grounding” by Michael Steiner and Tobias Fueter (Production: C-Films, Zurich). The Austrian-Swiss co-production “Slumming” by Michael Glawogger (Co-production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) will participate in the international competition.
In the “European Shorts” competition, the Western Swiss short film “Nouvel ordre” by Gregory Bindschedler, Jean-Daniel Schneider, and Ausonio Tavares de Sousa is in the running for the Prix UIP, which goes with a nomination for “Best Short Film” for the European Film Award.

For more than two decades, the Flanders International Film Festival in Gent has concentrated on “the impact of music on film”, and has built a thematic event around the focus on both film and music, which is unique within the festival circuit. Numerous side sections as well as a Trade Show organized for a professional film audience make Gent one of the largest film festivals in Belgium, along with Namur, which is dedicated to French-speaking film.
