Swiss presence at film festival in Havana
03.12.2007
Six Swiss films will be screened in the “Muestra de cine Suizo” section at the 29th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which runs in Havana from December 4 – 14, 2007. The program is a result of the collaboration initiated by SWISS FILMS, the FDFA and trigon-film together with this festival three years ago.
Films screened in conjunction with “Muestra de cine Suizo” are fiction films which were exceptionally successful in Switzerland during the past year: “Die Herbstzeitlosen” by Bettina Oberli and “Das Fräulein” by Andrea Staka. In addition, the episode film “La vraie vie est ailleurs” will be presented, with Genovese director Frédéric Choffat in attendance. Film director Jan Gassmann and producer Thomas Jörg will travel to Havana together with the members of the music group “Mundartisten” for the presentation of the documentary film “Chrigu”, which has gained a great deal of attention internationally. Homage will also be paid to cineaste Daniel Schmid, who passed away in 2006: two of his films – “Il Bacio di Tosca” and “Hors Saison”, produced in 1984 and 1992 respectively – will be screened in this program in Havana.
The International Festival of New Latin American Cinema ranks as one of the most important film festivals in Latin America and is attended by a hundred thousand Cuban film aficionados every year. Traditionally, it presents a very comprehensive program which not only features films from the continent, but also opens doors for films from other countries.
