Swiss participation at Karlovy Vary

Three Swiss co-productions will be screened at the 43rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which runs in the spa city in the western part of the Czech Republic from July 4-12, 2008. The fiction film “Tulpan” by the Kazak director Sergei Dvortsevoy (co-production: Cobra Film, Zurich), which won an award in Cannes, will be screened in the competition in the “East of the West” section. Also competing at the festival will be the Swiss-Russian film “La mere” by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov in the documentary film section. Silvio Soldini’s “Giorni e nuvole” (co-production: Amka Film, Savosa) will be screened in the “Horizons” section of the Official Selection.
Producer Elda Guidinetti (Ventura Film, Meride) is a member of the international jury for documentary films. The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival ranks among the 12 first-class festivals as classified by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) and is an important platform for films from Eastern Europe.
