Poland – focus country for film programmes
Poland is a focus country for film programmes curated by SWISS FILMS in 2013. No less than three major film festivals have devoted their attention to Swiss filmmaking this year between May and July. A Peter Mettler retrospective and photo exhibition were featured in Warsaw and Wroclaw in mid-May, together with films by Markus Imhoof, Peter Liechti, Barbara Miller, Stefan Haupt, among others. Shortly thereafter, eight Swiss productions were screened in the International Competition at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival, one of the oldest in Europe for documentary and short films. The festival opened with “Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction,” which completely sold out with 800 admissions, while “Hiver nomade” launched the “Focus on Switzerland!” programme comprised of seven documentary films.
