Swiss movies in New Brunswick
24.09.2008
A great deal of interest is being shown in Swiss films in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Three Swiss film productions will be screened at the 22nd Festival international du cinéma francophone (FICFA) held in the city of Moncton, which lies near the American border (September 25-October 4, 2008): the fiction film “That day” by Jacob Berger; the short film “The suitcase” by Kaveh Bakhtiari; and Georges Schwizgebel’s animation film “Retouches”, a Canadian-Swiss co-production.
Swiss filmmakers have already been popular guests for the past two years in Moncton: Laurent Nègre was awarded the Prix La Vague for Best Spiel Film with “Fragile” in 2006; one year later Frédéric Choffat won the same award for the fiction film “Real Life Is Elsewhere” in 2007.
