Two Swiss film productions and one coproduction were honoured with awards at film festivals in Central Europe last weekend. In Zagreb, Chris Niemeyer’s short film “Las Pelotas”, which won the Swiss Film Prize «Quartz 2011», was honoured with the Motovun Online Award, endowed with EUR 1,000. The 40-minute film “L'artigiano glaciale” by Alberto Meroni won the award for Best Documentary Film, also endowed with EUR 1,000, at the Hungarian Slow Film International Festival in Eger (July 27-30, 2010). The fiction film “Le quattro volte” by Michelangelo Frammartino (coproduction: Ventura Film) won the Audience Prize and the International Film Guide Award at the 10th Era New Horizons International Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland (July 22 - August 1, 2010).
The jury presented the Motovun Online Award for "Las Pelotas" at the 12th Motovun Film Festival (July 26-30, 2010) with the Croatian President in attendance.
The Audience Prize for "Le quattro volte" in Wroclaw, Poland, includes distribution of the film in Poland. The relatively young Era New Horizons Festival focuses on unconventional filmmaking and is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF). With more than 122,000 visitors, it ranks among the most important festivals in Poland, together with those in Warsaw and Cracow. Among the highlights of this year's festival was a complete Jean-Luc-Godard retrospective.
