SWISS FILMS is reorganising itself

05.12.2025

The promotion agency for Swiss film production is realigning its organisational structure to meet the changing demands of the industry and set new priorities.

As of January 2026, SWISS FILMS will be strategically reorganising itself for the future and tackling one of the most pressing challenges: With an ever-increasing range of audiovisual offerings, Swiss filmmaking requires greater visibility and networking. Not only is the volume of international films growing, but domestic film production is also seeking an audience as it brings more films to the market. In order to bolster the resources for promoting and distributing Swiss film productions to meet the new demands, SWISS FILMS is reorganising itself and focusing on the following priorities:

Management: reduction and consolidation of resources

As part of its reorganisation, the management, under director Nicola Ruffo, will be reduced from three to two people – a measure aimed at enhancing cost efficiency. Nicola Ruffo will continue to set the tone for institutional stewardship, focusing on the management of the organisation, representation and organisational development at SWISS FILMS.
Andreas Bühlmann, previously head of Festivals & Markets, will be appointed deputy director and be responsible for industry activities and the international presence of Swiss filmmaking.

Together, they will work to make SWISS FILMS even more agile and broader in promoting and networking Swiss film productions, with the changing needs of the industry and the audience and partners at the forefront.

Efficient collaboration with wide-ranging expertise

The promotion agency will be structured into three teams instead of two to specifically address the growing demands of the film world with the following areas of expertise: Industry, Communication & Marketing and Data & Innovation. Greater emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary collaboration between the teams.

Restructuring of specialist expertise

With an internal reorganisation, SWISS FILMS can cover the tasks of both the Industry team and the Communication & Marketing team. Charlotte Ducos will take over as head of Industry and coordinate the former Festivals & Markets team. As head of Marketing & Communication, Nadja Scherrer will oversee domestic promotion and B2C marketing. Daliah Kohn will join the team as deputy head of Marketing & Communication, focusing on institutional relations and the expansion of communication activities in the B2C and B2B sectors.

Strengthening Switzerland’s Latin-language regions

As head of the Geneva Office, Marcel Müller, from the Industry team, will contribute to further developing the office location by expanding French-speaking industry networks and, in close cooperation with the management, fostering exchange with production companies and filmmakers from Romandy. At the same time, the needs of Italian-speaking Switzerland will be taken into account in close cooperation with the Ticino Film Commission.

Swiss film data as the key to promotion

Data-based promotion is becoming increasingly important not only to optimise the visibility of Swiss film productions, but also to measure the impact of activities and render processes more efficient. Thanks to the systematic collection of data on all independent Swiss productions, the SWISS FILMS website comprises the most comprehensive database of Swiss film productions and is one of Switzerland’s film websites with the widest reach.

In order to take the industry one step further in the future, SWISS FILMS is pooling its internal resources in a new Data & Innovation team, which will closely accompany the development process of the forthcoming new database. As of summer 2026, it is also planned to fill a vacant position with a focus on data analysis, innovation and digital processes. The new team will focus on new opportunities for more in-depth collaboration and services for partners in the industry.

These organisational and cost-efficient modifications strengthen the position of SWISS FILMS as the main promotion and competence centre for Swiss filmmaking at home and abroad.
