Activities for international promotion of Swiss films in Locarno
In collaboration with the Industry Days, the Swiss Association of Film Journalists (SVFJ), and MEDIA Desk Suisse, SWISS FILMS invites you to the StepIn/ch industry forum. On the topic of “Swiss films facing closed borders”: practical questions concerning the exclusion of Switzerland from the MEDIA sub-programmes are the focus of discussion on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
The cooperation for the Panorama Suisse programme (formerly “Appellations Suisse”) was reorganised together with the Festival del Film Locarno. For the first time in 2014, the Solothurn Film Festival is in charge of selecting the films screened in this programme. SWISS FILMS will remain responsible for the international promotion of the films. Commitment to the “Panorama Suisse” programme is shared between SWISS FILMS and the Solothurn Film Festival, in collaboration with the Festival del Film Locarno.
With Rendez-vous du cinéma suisse SWISS FILMS offers a roundtable discussion with international film critics on current trends in national filmmaking for the first time in Locarno. It is held on August 12, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in Spazio RSI Magnolia in Locarno. Sandrine Marques (Le Monde), Thierry Méranger (Cahiers du cinéma) and Herbert Spaich (SWR) discuss the following new films, moderated by Catherine Ann Berger: CURE – THE LIFE OF ANOTHER by Andrea Štaka; L‘ABRI (THE SHELTER) by Fernand Melgar (both in Concorso internazionale); SCHWEIZER HELDEN (UNLIKELY HEROES) by Peter Luisi (Piazza Grande); MON PÈRE, LA RÉVOLUTION ET MOI by Ufuk Emiroglu; and EL TIEMPO NUBLADO (CLOUDY TIMES) by Arami Ullón (both in Panorama Suisse).
