Swiss films at French film days in Tübingen

“La vraie vie est ailleurs/Real Life is Elsewhere” by Frédéric Choffat (Rita Productions, Geneva) is one of nine new talent films competing at the 23rd French Film Days in Tübingen (November 1 – 8, 2006). The films are in the running for five prizes – among them the audience award of the city of Tübingen (3,500 Euro) and Stuttgart (2,500 Euro), as well as the youth prize (5,000 Euro). In its “New Films” section, the festival also presents “Mon frère se marie/My Brother Is Getting Married” by Jean-Stéphane Bron (Box Productions, Renens), “La petite dame du Capitole/The Little Lady of the Capitole” by Jacqueline Veuve, and the Swiss co-produced film “Ça brûle” by Claire Simon (Vega Film, Zurich).
With approximately 80 films of different genres from France, Belgium, Canada, Africa, and Switzerland, the festival offers the audience of the university city of Tübingen and the provincial capital of Stuttgart an opportunity to discover a wide spectrum of contemporary French-speaking filmmaking. For productions made in France, it offers a special platform for the launching of films: The French promotion agency Unifrance, together with the Media and Film Society Baden-Württemberg (MFG), bestows a distribution promotion award with a prize sum of 20,000 Euro. On November 4, the Swiss Consulate General in Stuttgart organizes a reception ahead of the screening of “Mon frère se marie/My Brother is Getting Married” with Jean-Stéphane Bron and Frédéric Choffat in attendance.
