The film “Satte Farben vor Schwarz” starring Senta Berger and Bruno Ganz in the leading roles, will celebrate its world premiere in the international competition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival (September 17-25, 2010). This fiction film debut by Swiss director Sophie Heldman is simultaneously in the running for the Kutxa - New Directors Award, endowed with EUR 90,000 and thus the largest monetary award for a film debut. Senta Berger and Bruno Ganz are expected to attend the festival in San Sebastian.

The drama, coproduced by Dschoint Ventschr in Zurich and Unafilm in Cologne, tells the love story of an elderly couple suddenly confronted with separation and death because the husband is diagnosed with cancer. The 37-year-old Swiss director Sophie Heldman, who was born in Zug and studied at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York and the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb), presents her first fiction film with "Satte Farben vor Schwarz."
Switzerland is also present at the 58th San Sebastian International Film Festival with the coproduction "Le quattro volte" by Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino (Ventura Film, Meride). The film festival is the most important in Spain and ranks among the 13 international A-category film festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF). The Swiss distributor Bea Cuttat (Look Now!) will participate in the "European Distributors: Up Next!" event in San Sebastian, organised by the festival and European Film Promotion. Distributors from ten European countries will conduct a public discussion on the challenges concerning the digital upheaval.
