Swiss film and television films at FIPA in Biarritz

At the 19th edition of the Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels (FIPA) in Biarritz, taking place from January 24-29, 2006, several Swiss films will be shown as part of the competition. With its emphasis on audio-visual productions, the event presents “Ricordare Anna” (To remember Anna) by Walo Deuber (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) in its “Fiction” section, with the director in attendance. In the “Documentaire de création et essai” section, the film “EXIT, The Right To Die” by Fernand Melgar (Production: Climage, Lausanne) will be featured. The short film “La Suisse dans la marée noire de Saddam” by Agathe Duparc and Jean-Bernard Menoud (Production: Télévision Suisse Romande, Geneva) is presented in the “Grand reportages et faits de société” section.
The medium-length film “L’assassinat de Félix Moumié” (The assassination of Félix Moumié) by Frank Garbély (Production: Triluna Film Zurich) will be shown outside of the festival competition in the “Programmes en situation de création” section. In addition, five Swiss short films will be shown in programs geared toward this format. Among them are: “Floh!” by Christiane Wiederkehr, which received an award at the 2005 Cinéma Tout Ecran, “Haru Ichiban –Spring Storm” by Aya Domenig (produced by the Zurich School of Art and Design), “Riza Kaptan” by Tolga Dilsiz, and “Terra Incognita” (Production: Reck Filmproduktion, Zurich), with director Peter Volkart in attendance in Biarritz, as well as “Herr Goldstein” by Micha Lewinsky (Production: Lang Film, Freienstein), which was the winner of the Pardo di domain at the 2005 Locarno International Film Festival.

At the FIPATEL televeision market, which takes place at the same time as the festival, fourteen long feature films from Switzerland will be introduced in Biarritz to a wide professional audience. Francine Brücher, who heads SWISS FILM’s international promotion department, will be present from January 25-29 and will represent the Swiss filmmakers and their productions.

SWISS FILMS shares a presentation booth with agencies such as German Films, Austrian Film Commission, and Wallonie Bruxelles Images.
