Swiss double-award in Hiroshima

At the 11th Hiroshima International Animation Festival, which ended on August 28, 2006, two Swiss animated films received awards: “Jeu/Play” by Georges Schwizgebel won the Special International Jury Prize. The jury underscored its “rich painterly surface and its inventive and complex sense of “play”. “Tarte aux pommes” by Isabelle Favez took home the Special Prize, with the jury justifying that it was “a tale told with great humor, surprising relationships and strong yet simple visuals.” Three Swiss films participated in the festival’s international competition, which counts as among the most important events worldwide. A Special Program with 90 (short) films was dedicated to animated filmmaking “made in Switzerland.”
