Swiss animated film awarded in Madrid

The short animated film “Le printemps de Sant Ponç” by David Epiney and Eugenia Mumenthaler won second prize in the Best Short Film category at the 8th edition of the Animadrid Animated Film Festival (September 28 – October 5, 2007). Both Geneva directors were in attendance at the event in Madrid and personally accepted the award, which comes with a prize sum of 6,000 Euro.
Along with 55 additional short films. “Le printemps de Sant Ponç” was presented as part of the international competition presided over by a three-member jury.
The film “Le printemps de Sant Ponç” shows animated drawings done by individuals with disabilities and accompanied by their voiceover statements. It was first shown at the festival “Visions du réel” in April, and will participate at festivals in Valdivia, La Rochelle, Ankara, Brest, Barcelona, and Gijón over the next few weeks.
