The fiction film “Summer Games,” which is Switzerland’s official candidate for an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category, is among the 40 entries from all over the world presented at the Awards Buzz at the 23rd Palm Springs International Film Festival (January 5-16, 2012).
Apart from Rolando Colla's fiction film, the Palm Springs Festival will also screen Peter Luisi's comedy "Der Sandmann" and the two coproductions "The Turin Horse" by Hungarian director Béla Tarr and "Corpo celeste" by Italian director Alice Rohrwacher.
The festival takes place barely two weeks before the nominations for the Academy Awards are announced. It serves as the discovery showcase to draw the Academy members' attention to foreign films as candidates for an Oscar. Rolando Colla and Peter Luisi will present their films personally in Palm Springs.
