Strong Swiss presence in Goteborg

At the 30th Goteborg Film Festival, taking place in the second largest Swedish city of Goteborg from January 26 – February 5, 2007, six Swiss films and co-productions will be part of the program. The festival, which is among the most important Scandinavian film events, presents in its “World Wide” section the for the 2007 Swiss Film Prize nominated productions “Grounding” by Michael Steiner and Tobias Fueter (Production: C-Films, Zurich), as well as “Vitus” by Fredi M. Murer (Production: Hugofilm, Zurich), and “After Shock” by Stina Werenfels (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich). Also shown in this section will be “Ryna” by Ruxandra Zenide (Production: Navarro Film & Pacific Film, Geneva), which was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize last year. In the “Under construction: Films from Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia” series, the festival screens “Das Fraulein” by Andrea Staka, which is yet another Dschoint Ventschr production in the running for this year’s Swiss Film Prize.
The documentary film “The Short Life of Jose Antonio Gutierrez” by Heidi Specogna, also nominated for the prestigious Swiss award, will be presented in the “It’s all true” section. The Germany-produced film “Das wahre Leben” by Swiss director Alain Gsponer, will be shown in the “Another View” series. The Austrian-Swiss co-production “Slumming” by Michael Glawogger (Co-production: Dschoint Ventschr) and the Swiss co-production “To Get to Heaven You Have To Die” by Tajikistan-born Dhamshed Usmonov (Co-production: Saga Productions, Lausanne) will be screened in the ”World Wide” section as well, while the Swiss-Italian co-production “Volevo solo vivere” by Mimmo Calopresti (Co-production: Ventura Film, Meride) will be presented in the ”It’s all true” program.



The festival in Goteborg, which is dedicated to auteur movies and does not include a competition section, is one of the most important Scandinavian film events. With its Nordic Film Market, taking place form February 1-4, it also includes a specific market platform.
