With eight Swiss productions in the international selection, the 22nd Munich International Documentary Festival, taking place from Mai 2 – 10, 2007, presents an impressive selection of Swiss documentary working and will be opening with “Heimatklänge” by Stefan Schwietert (Prod. Xefilms, Zurich), “A Song For Argyris” by Stefan Haupt and “La liste de Clara” by Marcel Schüpbach (CAB Productions, Lausanne) will be screening in the international competition. These three Swiss works are competing against 14 other films for the Bavarian Television Award and the Telepool of 10’000EUR.
With the opening film “Heimatklänge”, “Hardcore Chambermusic” by Peter Liechti, “Josephsohn Bildhauer” by Matthias Kälin and Laurin Merz (Catpics Coproductions, Zurich), “Someone Besides You” by Edgar Hagen (Prod. Maximage, Zurich) and “Wintersong” by Pascal Hofmann and Benny Jaberg (Prod. HGK, Zurich) five of the 36 films in the international program will be Swiss productions.

The Munich festival, which focuses on artistic documentaries, is, with the events in Leipzig and Duisburg, one of the most important platforms for documentaries in the German-speaking region. The festival has been watching the Swiss doc-scene with interest for years, last year screening “Gambit” by Sabine Gisiger in the competition.
