Five Swiss film productions and coproductions are on the programme of the 17th Busan International Film Festival held in the South Korean metropolis (October 4-13, 2012). Antej Farac’s fiction film “Annelie,” which was shot in Munich (coproduction: El Patrol, Biel), is the first Swiss film production to be screened in the festival competition in Busan. The Biel-based director with roots in former Yugoslavia will travel to South Korea together with the film’s producer Zoé Schaub. The Flash Forward Competition is devoted to works by emerging directors from all over the world. The Swiss-Italian director Silvio Soldini will present his most recent opus “Il comandante e la cigogna” (coproduction: Ventura Film, Ticino) in Busan. The fiction film “Töte mich” by the German director Emily Atef (coproduction: Hugofilms, Zurich) will also be screened in the festival selection, alongside numerous European films.
Rolando Colla returns to Busan with documentary film
Last year in Busan Rolando Colla presented his fiction film “Summer Games,” which was honoured with an award in three categories of the Swiss Film Prize. This year he will participate again at the festival, this time with his recent film “Das bessere Leben ist anderswo.” The festival ranks among the four largest in Asia, together with Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. Peter Mettler’s documentary essay film “The End Of Time,” highly acclaimed in Locarno and Toronto will be screened in the Wide Angle section in Busan, together with Colla’s film.
