Solid Swiss presence in Oberhausen

At the 54th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, taking place fom May 1- 6, 2008, eleven Swiss short films have been invited. The short film “August” by Florin Tudor and Mona Vatamanu (produced by Fine Art Unternehmen, Zug) will participate in the International Competition along with 62 other films from 42 countries. Besides that, four other Swiss films have been selected for the “Children and Youth Films Competition”, whereas in the competition “MuVi”, being dedicated to videoclips, three Swiss films will be presented. Several filmmakers will be on the spot in order to present their films.
During the 31th “Children and Youth Films Competition” encompassing 42 films from 21 countries, the short documentary film “Amotmalies” by Frédéric Florey (produced by Bordu Film, Geneva), the short film “Icebergs” by Germinal Roaux (CAB Productions, Lausanne) as well as the animation film “Animatou” by a collective consisting of six filmmakers centred on Claude Luyet (Studio GDS, Carouge) and “Tôt ou tard” by Jadwiga Kowalska (produced by Hochschule, Luzern) will be presented.



On the occasion of the 10th competition “MuVi Award” three Swiss videoclips will be presented: “Music Machines” by Jonas Meier (produced by Zweihundfilm, Winterthur) will be shown in the International Programme, whereas “Mon bébé” by Kaya Inan (soundtrack by Kutti MC and Endo Anaconda) and “Bestes deutsches Musikvideo” by Swiss filmmakers Luigi Archetti & Bo Wiget are programmed in the German competition. The video clip “I Have Seen You Dancing Better Than This” by Luigi Archetti & Bo Viget will be shown in the section “MuVi Retro”.
Finally, the festival will introduce two Swiss short films in the special programme “Preisträger anderer Festivals”, which already drew several awards in numerous international festivals: “Auf der Strecke” (On The Line) by Reto Caffi (produced by Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln) and “René” by Tobias Nölle.



The filmmakers Frédéric Florey, Jonas Meier and Kaya Inan will attend the festival in Oberhausen. The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is one of the eldest film festivals in the world. A prize money of 38´500 Euros awaits the winners.
