„Sieben Mulden und eine Leiche“ and „Heimatklänge“ at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto
17.04.2007
„Hot Docs“, the largest documentary festival in North America, of which the 14th edition takes place in Toronto from April 19 – 29, 2007, concedes a prominent position to new Swiss films: “Sieben Mulden und eine Leiche” by Thomas Haemmerli (Prod. Ican films, Zürich) will be presented in the program “World Showcase”, while “Heimatklänge”, the new film of Stefan Schwietert (Prod. Maximage, Zürich), will be screened in the section “International Spectrum” and is also competing for the Best International Documentary Feature Award.
Both documentaries stand at the beginning of a promising career: For the film “Sieben Mulden und eine Leiche”, which released in Swiss German theatres at the beginning of April, the Hot Docs Festival is the first big international festival appearance. “Heimatklänge” celebrated its premier at this year’s Berlinale, receiving two awards (Reader’s Choice Award of the “Tagesspiegel” and the award CICAE of the International Confederation of Art Cinemas). Shortly before its presence in Toronto, the film “Heimatklänge”, which is about cheering and other singings, will be opening the Visions du Réel Festival in Nyon.
