Short Film Nights tour in its fifth year
21.03.2007
After successful completion of the four previous editions, SWISS FILMS sends “Short Film Nights” on tour across Switzerland for the fifth time - allowing a glimpse into the world of short films.
The nightly program starts in each city with a film screening incorporating a local theme. This year’s anniversary tour begins in Zurich with the premiere of the new film “Die Chronomanen” by Karim Patwa, followed by the regular program which is divided into four thematic sections: The first section is entirely dedicated to Swiss short filmmaking. Seven films that were nominated for the 2007 Swiss Films Prize will be shown, and among them several that received awards. Among the films are the award-winning animated works “Wolkenbruch” by Simon Eltz and “Play” by Georges Schwizgebel.
“Feierabend/Closing Time” by Alex E. Kleinberger (2007 Swiss Film Prize, Best Short Film) will be shown in the “Shopping” section of the event. Additional films shown in this category are “Adios Mama” from Mexico and the Oscar-nominated “West Bank Story” by Ari Sandel, among others.
The “Kurz in Berlin” (Short in Berlin) section features stories from or about the German city. Included are contemporary films as well as classics such as “Schwarzfahrer/Black Rider”. The category “Shocking Shorts” concludes the four-part series by showing“dangerous” films from around the world.
Refreshments will be served at the event until the early morning hours.
The Short Film Nights tour starts at the Arthouse Le Paris and Arthouse Picadilly cinemas in Zurich on March 30, 2007. Additional events take place in Basel (4/13), St. Gallen (4/20), Schaffhausen (4/27), Chur (4/28), Aarau (5/4), Lucerne (5/11), and Berne (5/18). From October 5 – November 16, 2007, Short Film Nights will be touring nine cities in the Swiss regions of the Romandie and the Ticino.
