Well-known animation artist Georges Schwizgebel's (Prod. Studio GDS, Carouge) newest Film “Jeu” entered this year's international competition at the renowned Tampere Short Film Festival. From March 7 to March 11, 2007 “Jeu” will compete with 70 short films from 36 countries for the Prix UIP which leads to a nomination for “Best Short Film” for the European Film Award. The winner of the EFA will then be placed in the race for a 2008 Acadamy Award nomination.
After premiering on Locarno's Piazza Grande last year “Jeu” has been invited to over 20 reputed international film festivals – recently to the Bruxelles “Anima” Festival in February – and has won seven awards so far. 2006 “Jeu” screened as supporting film for “Das Fräulein” (Andrea Staka) in swiss cinemas and was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize 2007.

The skandinavian festival in Tampere is one of the most important short film events in Europe and it's five-day stage is much valued throughout the industry. Last year 30'000 Guests watched over 120 short films from various genres.

In March Georges Schwizgebel's work is presented at further international events: The Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art in London will exhibit his pictures and films in “Momentary Momentum: Animated Drawings” (until May 3). From March 10 to March 14, a retrospective and exhibition in Meknès (Marocco) are dedicated to the artist and the seventh animation film festival “image par image” in Val d'Oise (France) dedicates a “Carte Blanche” to Schwizgebel on March 17.
