06.11.2008
Two Swiss film productions won awards at the 2nd Gotham Screen Film Festival and Screenplay Contest in New York (October 30-November 2, 2008): “The Other Half” by Rolando Colla won the award for Best Feature Film; Edo Bertoglio’s “Face Addict” won the award for Best Documentary Film. The festival presented 31 films from 14 countries.
This year marked the second edition of the festival at the Tribeca Cinemas, whose aim is to provide increased exposure for cutting-edge films to New York’s art-house film audience and offer undiscovered filmmakers a platform for making their release on the East Coast or their US debut.
“The Other Half” (production: Peacock, Zurich), Rolando Colla’s third long-playing fiction film, has been screened at several major international film festivals since ist premiere at the World Film Festival in Montreal in 2007, including Cairo, Shanghai and Warsaw and at the Filmfest München. “Face Addict”, an Italian-Swiss co-production (Amka Films, Savosa), premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2005 and was presented thereafter at festivals in Buenos Aires, Gothenburg, Tallinn and at the Viennale in Vienna.
