12.06.2006
Four films took home awards at the second edition of the Festival du Film Romand in Geneva (FROG), which ended on June 11th, 2006. The documentary film «Crónica de un Sueño/Chronicle of a Dream» by Stefano Tononi and Mariana Viñoles (Production: Cronopiofilms, Geneva) won both the new talent and the audience award. The prize for Best Short Film was bestowed to the 18-minute film «Amancay» by Argentina born director Milagros Mumenthaler (Bordu Films, Geneva), with the jury emphasizing its «mastery of cinematic language» and «extraordinary acting achievement.» The long documentary film «Les règles du jeu» (The rules of the game) by Pierre Morath and Nichals Peart (nva21 SA, Carouge) was given the award for Best Documentary Film. The jury justified its decision by stating that the jury members «were fascinated by the depiction of a masculine world coined by machoism and the law of the strongest while bearing witness to very personally experienced pain.» The short film «La limace» (The slug) by Anthony Vouardoux and Tania Zambrano-Ovalle received the Camera Prize. In addition, an honorable mention was given to the animated film «Le génie de la boîte de raviolis/The genie in a ravioli tin» by Claude Barras. The prizes came with gift certificates and services provided by film-technical companies.
