Mostra in Venice: awards for productions by Ventura Film

Elena Cotta won the award for Best Actress at the festival in Venice. She stars in the fiction film “Via Castellana Bandiera,” coproduced by Ventura Film in Ticino, which was also honoured with four further prizes from independent juries. The Special Jury Prize went to “Die Frau des Polizisten,” in whose production Ventura Film also participated.

Two of the competition entries screened at the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica were coproduced by Ventura Film in Ticino, and both films rank among the award-winners in Venice.

“Via Castellana Bandiera”
The Italian-Swiss-French work “Via Castellana Bandiera” by the Italian director Emma Dante garnered five awards at the 70th International Film Festival in Venice, which concluded on September 7, 2013. The international jury honoured Elena Cotta with the “Coppa Volpi” for Best Actress. In addition, the film received the following awards from the independent juries: the Lina Mangiacapre Award; a Special Mention for a debut film from the Young Jury Members; and the Soundtrack Stars Award for Best Soundtrack. The Francesco Pasinetti Award went to the actresses Elena Cotta and Alba Rohrwacher.

“Die Frau des Polizisten”
The drama “Die Frau des Polizisten” by German director Philip Gröning won the Special Jury Prize. Cinematographer Renato Berta was a member of the international jury, presided over by Bernardo Bertolucci. Four Swiss productions were screened in the festival’s official programme in Venice.
