Main prize for Peter Liechti’s “The Sound of Insects” in Warsaw

Peter Liechti’s film “The Sound of Insects – Record of a Mummy” was honoured with the Millennium Award at the 6th Planete Doc Review Film Festival in Warsaw (May 8-17, 2009). Nineteen international documentary films were in the running for the award, which is endowed with EUR 8,000.
“The Sound of Insects” celebrated ist world premiere at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, which also featured a retrospective of the works by Peter Liechti. Since then the film has experienced an extremely successful festival career: after being screened in the competition “Visions du Réel” Film Festival in Nyon, it was presented at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto in April, two of the most prestigious festivals for documentary films.
Within just six years, the Planete Doc Review Film Festival in Warsaw has evolved into one of the most interesting platforms for the documentary film in Eastern Europe.
