Kilian Dellers’ work and Georges Schwizgebel’s “Jeu/Play” at Tokyo Image Forum
26.04.2007
The “Tokyo Image Forum” festival, which takes place from April 28 – May 6, 2007, will present the artist Kilian Dellers’ entire work of film under the title “Goodbye Stylish”. The event is supported by the promotion agency SWISS FILMS. Also shown will be Georges Schwizgebel’s award-winning animated film “Jeu/Play”. After the screenings at the 2007 Tokyo Image Forum, which is a prime address for experimental film in Japan, the entire festival program will tour five additional Japanese cities: Kyoto in May, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Niigata in June, and Yokohama in July. The Basel artist Kilian Dellers will be in attendance in Tokyo with a live-film-performance, as well as with a music performance presented in collaboration with Japanese musician Kazuo Imai.
In addition to his performances as part of “Goodbye Stylish”, Kilian Dellers will screen the films “Yvonne” (1987), “Wolke in Hosen” (1982), “Gaby’s Ass”(1982), “Der Wasserschieber für die Berieselung des Kugelbehälters ist in der Wärmezentrale” (1982), “alles weitere sei praktisch sitzkunst” (1984), “Rot Weiss” (1985), “Antje bye bye” (1993), and “Vision” (1996).
Georges Schwizgebel’s “Jeu/Play” has been invited to Japan for the second time. It was first shown at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in 2006 and received an award. At the “Tokyo Image Forum” it is scheduled as part of the “International Section”.
With this presence of experimental film in Japan, the intensive collaboration between SWISS FILMS and Japanese partners has continued. It began in October 2005 and has allowed for broad audience for Swiss filmmaking. In 2005, new feature films were invited in Osaka, documentary films in Yamagata, and classic films in Tokyo. In 2006, a Swiss animated film focus was presented in Hiroshima, as well as two retrospectives of Daniel Schmid’s work in 2006 and 2007.
