Four Swiss films at “Premiers Plans” Festival in Angers

20.01.2010

Four Swiss film productions will be presented to the audience and film professionals at the 22nd “Premiers Plans” Film Festival in Angers (January 22-31, 2010). One of the four is the 22-minute film “Les bons garcons” by Antoine Russbach from Geneva, who completed the film while studying at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium. The film is competing against 22 other films in the Student Films section and is thus in the running for the Grand Prix, endowed with 1,500 euros.
The feature film “L'enfance d'Icare” by the Geneva-based, Swiss-Rumanian director Alexandre Iordachescu, will be screened as the French sneak preview in conjunction with a homage honouring the deceased actor Guillaume Depardieu. After having made her short film debut with “Racines” at last year’s festival, filmmaker Eileen Hofer will return to Angers this year with her latest film “Le deuil de la cigogne joyeuse”. The 15-minute film will be presented in the “Plans suivants” section, which traces the careers of young directors. The animation film “What’s Next?” (2007) by Adrian Flückiger and Claudia Röthlin will participate in a retrospective devoted to the topic of “Fear in cinema”.

The film festival, held in the Loire Region, aims to spotlight feature and short debut films by talented European directors.
