FIPRESCI Prize for “Home” at Women’s Film Festival in Ankara

17.05.2010

Ursula Meier’s fiction film debut “Home” (coproduction: Box Productions, Renens) was honoured with the Best Film Prize of the FIPRESCI Jury at the 13th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival in Ankara (May 6-13, 2010). The film, starring Isabelle Huppert and Olivier Gourmet in the leading roles, competed against twelve other fiction films in the international competition.

The three-member jury of the International Federation of Film Critics voted unanimously to present the prize to "Home" because of "its unforeseeable script, its unsettling atmosphere which captivates the viewers' interest, as well as the skilled sound and setting design which enables viewers to experience the gradual escalation of psychological distress." Meier's fiction film celebrated its world premiere in the Critics' Week section in Cannes exactly two years ago and has been since been honoured with 20 awards, three of which were the QUARTZ Swiss Film Prize in 2009.

In addition, two Honourable Mention awards were presented to documentary films coproduced in Switzerland at festivals in Poland and in Spain: "David Wants To Fly" by German director David Sieveking (coproduction: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) received a Special Mention at the 7th Planet Doc Review Film Festival in Warsaw; and "Tabou" by Orane Burri (Rita Productions, Geneva) received an Honourable Mention of the Jury at 7th Festival International Madrid Documentary Festival. Both festivals ran from May 7-16, 2010.
