Jean-Luc Godard’s “Film Socialisme” will be screened in the Masters main programme and thus placed in the limelight at the 35th Toronto International Film Festival (September 9-19, 2010), generally regarded as the most important film festival in North America. This marks the first time the film, produced by Vega Film in Zurich, is screened in America. It celebrated its world premiere in Cannes in May.
The film "Le quattro volte" by Italian film director Michelangelo Frammartino (coproduction: Ventura Film, Ticino), which also celebrated its premiere in Cannes, will be screened in the Visions programme in Toronto.
The international significance of the film festival in Toronto, which has no competition, is universally regarded as an ideal platform to premiere films in America and Canada. Representatives from world sales and distribution firms from all over the world converge in Toronto to attend the industry fair which runs parallel to the festival.
