Eleven Swiss short films at Festival Etiuda&Anima in Cracow

Eleven Swiss short film productions will be screened at the 16th International Etiuda&Anima Film Festival in Cracow (November 27-December 4, 2009). Five films will participate in the competitions, and six further productions will be showcased in the “Shorts Swiss Style” series, featuring creative filmmaking from Switzerland in the short film genre.
The short film “Schonzeit” by Irene Ledermann (Zurich University of the Arts) is among the 39 films in the running for a Dinosaur in Gold, Silver or Bronze in the “Etiuda” competition, which is devoted exclusively to productions from film schools. The 20-minute fiction film celebrated its world premiere last summer at the Locarno International Film Festival and won awards at festivals in Geneva and Winterthur this November.
Three animation films – “Flowerpots” by Rafael Sommerhalder, “Retouches” by Georges Schwizgebel and “Signalis” by Adrian Flückiger – and the experimental film “Station” by Christina Benz will all participate in the “Anima” competition and are thus in the running for a Jabberwocky in Gold, Silver or Bronze.
The six Swiss productions selected by the festival for the “Shorts Swiss Style” series are as follows: three documentary films “Cartographie 9 – La Boule d'Or” by Bruno Deville, “La petite photo des seins de ma mère faite par mon père” by Marie-Eve Hildbrand and “Second Me” by Anna Thommen; and three fiction films “Larsen” by Carlo De Rosa, “Vincent, le magnifique” by Pascal Forney and “Monsieur Sélavy” by Peter Volkart.
The International Etiuda&Anima Film Festival in Cracow was founded in 1994 and focuses on works from film schools. The “Anima” competition was introduced in 2005 and also features professional, independent and animation films produced at film schools. Approximately 100 films will be screened in the two competitions.
