The fiction film "Dreamland" by Swiss director Petra Volpe (coproduction: Zodiac Pictures, Zurich, and Wüste Film Ost, Berlin), was selected by the Swiss members of the European Film Academy (EFA) as a candidate for the European Film Award 2014 nominations.

During the next two months, some 3’000 EFA members will choose the nominations from 50 shortlisted European film productions. The nominations will then be announced at the Seville European Film Festival on November 8. The European Film Award 2014 will be presented in Riga on December 13.

Following its premiere at the 9th Zurich Film Festival, Dreamland was screened in competition at the Busan International Film Festival and subsequently invited to the film festivals in Hof, Saarbrücken and Moscow, among others. Dreamland is an episodic film about lust, loneliness and deceit. The film depicts the fate of five people whose paths cross with an 18-year-old Bulgarian street prostitute in Zurich on Christmas Eve. Ursina Lardi won the Swiss Film Award 2014 for Best Actress for her performance in Dreamland.
