The Swiss documentary film “Ceux de la colline” by Berni Goldblat (production: MirFilms, Geneva) – coproduced with France and Burkina Faso – was honoured with two awards at the 24th Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur (FIFF), which came to a close on October 9: the Special Jury Prize, amounting to 10,000 euros (as postproduction support), and the Audience Prize from SCAM and the province of Namur for Best Documentary Film, endowed with 3,000 euros (production support).
The jury for fiction and documentary films – presided over by the French producer Alain Rocca – was comprised of 7 renowned members of the film industry, including Swiss filmmaker Ursula Meier. The FIFF is the largest festival for francophone films, drawing more that 33,000 visitors every year. Prizes amounting to a total of 100,000 euros are awarded.

The documentary film “Ceux de la colline” already won an award at the Brooklyn International Film Festival last June. The film portrays the economic and social relationships among the inhabitants of an improvised gold mining town in Burkina Faso: leaving everything behind, these men and women have come in swarms with the hope of making it rich.
