The strong Swiss presence at the film festival in Cannes coincides with a prominent presence of Swiss film productions and coproductions in French cinemas: Jean-Luc Godard’s “Film Socialisme”, which celebrated its world premiere on May 17 at the film festival, was released for the cinema on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 (Wild Bunch Distribution). The film “Dowaha” (“Les secrets”) by Tunisian director Raja Amari, coproduced by Akka Films in Geneva, was also launched in cinemas on Wednesday (Sophie Dulac Distribution).
One week later, the film "Aisheen (Still Alive In Gaza)" by Nicolas Wadimoff will be released in French cinemas on May 26 (Solaris Distribution), one week after its release in cinemas in the French-speaking region of Switzerland (distribution: Filmcoopi). It celebrated its premiere at the Berlinale and has since garnered numerous awards. Furthermore, Richard Dindo's "The Marsdreamers" will be screened in French cinemas (Les Films d'ici) as of June 16.
