«Carla’s List» in Sarajevo: Film start with witnesses and prosecutors
29.11.2006
On November 30, 2006, the Bosnian premiere of the film «Carla’s List» will take place in Sarajevo with director Marcel Schüpbach in attendance. Its screening will be followed by a discussion among Carla Del Ponte, whose work as chief prosecutor at the International Tribunal is portrayed in the film, and Meddzida Kreso, President, as well as Markinko Jurcevic, chief prosecutor at the Bosnian-Herzegovian Supreme Court. Invited guests are family members of victims of Bosnian massacres as well as members of the press. This pre-premiere event launches the theatrical release of «Carla’s List» in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia (January, 2007). It receives support from the Swiss Embassy in Bosnia-Herzegovina, from the Competency Center for Foreign Cultural Affairs (KKA-EDA), and from the film promotion agency SWISS FILMS.
As early as in August of 2006, and as part of the film’s premiere at the Piazza Grande in Locarno, the KKA organized a panel discussion with Carla del Ponte as well as Bosnian and Croatian chief prosecutors. Inspired by an enthusiastic response from the audience and media alike, the Swiss Embassy, along with the KKA and SWISS FILMS initiated the showing of the film on location in Sarajevo, recognizing its importance for the dealing with war crimes and the issue of justice.
Produced by the Lausanne company CAB Productions, and internationally marketed by Wide Management, Paris, the film has also been sold to distributors in Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia (Continental Film), France (Pierre Grise Distribution), Italy (Repley’s Films), and Spain (Aquellarre). Negotiations are taking place for its distribution in Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, and Great Britain.
