BONOBO wins Gold at the prestigious Student Academy Awards® in Los Angeles
Director Zoel Aeschbacher has won Gold at the Student Academy Awards® competition in the Narrative, International Film Schools category for his short film BONOBO. This marks the first time a film from ECAL / Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne has been honoured with the award.

The young director Zoel Aeschbacher has been honoured with the prestigious Gold Student Academy Award® in the Narrative, International Film Schools category for his short film production BONOBO. This is a first-time honour for a film from ECAL / Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne and marks the third time in a row for a film from Switzerland. The film was produced by ECAL and the production company Nouvelle Tribu in Geneva. World sales have been acquired by Salaud Morisset. With this award, BONOBO was automatically submitted to the Academy Awards® and eligible to compete in the Short Film – Live Action category. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood will announce the films nominated for the Oscars in mid-January 2020. Director Zoel Aeschbacher and cinematographer Dino Berguglia attended the award ceremony in Los Angeles on October 17. Zoel Aeschbacher is currently working on his first feature film.
