With the documentary film “Hiver nomade” by Manuel von Stürler in the Berlinale Forum and the short animation film “Der kleine Vogel und das Blatt” by Lena von Döhren in the Generation Kplus Competition, a total of four new Swiss film productions will be celebrating their premieres at the 62nd Berlinale (February 9-19, 2012). As announced by SWISS FILMS January 9, Ursula Meier’s feature film “L’enfant d’en haut” will be screened in the International Competition, and Alice Schmid’s documentary film “Die Kinder vom Napf” will open the Generation Kplus Competition. Three Swiss coproduction’s – “Hell” by Tim Fehlbaum; “Joschka und Herr Fischer” by Pepe Danquart; and “Raising Resistance” by Bettina Borgfeld and David Bernet – will be screened in the German Cinema section. Swiss actor Max Hubacher (“Der Verdingbub”) will represent Switzerland in the Shooting Stars Event 2012.

The documentary film "Hiver nomade" (producer: Louise Productions, Vaud) accompanies a shepherd, his girlfriend and a flock of about thousand sheep on their winter journey through Switzerland, a country whose landscape has become increasingly urbanised and spoiled by development. The film "Die Kinder vom Napf" also deals with rural life: Alice Schmid accompanied 50 children from a rural village in Lucerne's "Wild West." The film director will travel to Berlin with the children from the mountain village of Romoos to celebrate the film's international premiere. The four-minute animation film "Der kleine Vogel und das Blatt" was made as a Master's thesis at the Lucerne School of Art and Design and produced by Swisseffects in Zurich.

Eagerly awaited is the world premiere of Ursula Meier's feature film "L'enfant d'en haut," a coproduction between Vega Film in Zurich and France. The screening of Meier's second feature-length film for cinema - "Home" was her first - will take place on Monday, February 13, with the leading actors Gillian Anderson, Léa Seydoux and Kacey Mottet Klein, as well as screenwriter Antoine Jaccoud and cinematographer Agnès Godard in attendance.

The 18-year-old actor Max Hubacher from Bern is one of the ten European talents participating in the Shooting Star event held in conjunction with the Berlinale (February 11-13), as announced by SWISS FILMS on December 8. Just last week, Max Hubacher was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize "Quartz 2012" as Best Actor.
