Award for “Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46” in Dresden

The short science fiction film “Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46” by Berlin-based Swiss director Anthony Vouardoux won the Golden Horseman of the Youth Jury at the 23rd Filmfest Dresden (April 12-17, 2011).

The short science fiction film “Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46” by Berlin-based Swiss director Anthony Vouardoux won the Golden Horseman of the Youth Jury at the 23rd Filmfest Dresden (April 12-17, 2011). This award is endowed with EUR 2,000 and marks the eleventh award for the winner of the Swiss Film Prize “Quartz 2011.”

The 15-minute film depicts the landing of the astronaut Yuri Lennon on the Planet Alpha 46 and was shot in a single sequence. With nearly 30 festival invitations, the award in Dresden is now the tenth international award for the film. The film has been nominated for Best European Fantastic Films, the award for which will be presented at the film festival devoted to this genre in Sitges in October. There are also further invitations for festivals in New York, Bratislava, Cracow, Shenzhen and Tokyo in the upcoming months.

"Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46" can be seen in Switzerland in conjunction with the Short Film Night, which is organised by SWISS FILMS and tours eight cities in German-speaking Switzerland in April and May. The short film is also included in the "Nuits en Or du Court métrage" programme, organised by the French César Academy, in Geneva and Morges in May.
