The short animation film “The Lost Town Of Switez” by Polish director Kamil Polak, coproduction between Poland, Switzerland (Archangel Film Group, Savosa), France, Canada and Denmark, was honoured with the Jean-Luc Xiberras Award for a first film at the 35th International Animation Film Festival in Annecy. The award ceremony took place on Saturday evening, June 11, with the French minister of Culture and Communication Frédéric Mitterrand in attendance. “Switez” was among the 223 animation films screened in the festival’s official selection programme, which included nine other Swiss short film productions.
The film, produced in 3-D computer animation technique, skilfully combines fairy-tale fantasy with medieval heroic epic. The award in Annecy for the film produced in Switzerland is its fourth since it premiered at the Berlinale. Some 7,000 people attended this year's festival (June 6-12, 2011).
