Audience award for «Vitus» in Los Angeles

13.11.2006

At the 20th AFI Fest in Los Angeles, California, which ended on November 12, 2006, «Vitus» by Fredi M. Murer won the Audience Award. The viewers chose among 77 films, including the complete selection of competition films. The producer of the film, Christof Neracher (Hug Film, Zurich) was in attendance in Los Angeles and accepted the prize in lieu of Fredi M. Murer. This award represents a favorable omen in the film’s running for nominations for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
The festival organized by the American Film Institute (AFI) allows the professional audience - among them members of the Academy – to gain an overview of the films to be selected, and gives a chance to create an initial buzz for the upcoming nominations. In October, «Vitus» already won the children’s audience award at the 1st Festa internazionale del cinema di Roma, as well as the Audience Choice Award at the 42nd Chicago International Film Festival.
