10th anniversary for ZFF – with many Swiss films to celebrate

Eleven Swiss film productions and five coproductions are on the programme of the 10th Zurich Film Festival (September 25 - October 5, 2014).

Eleven Swiss film productions and five coproductions are on the programme of the 10th Zurich Film Festival (September 25 - October 5, 2014).

Two Swiss films are vying for the Golden Eye in the ZFF’s International Feature Film Competition: Chrieg, Simon Jaquemet’s promising debut film and Bruno Deville’s Bouboule. Prior to ZFF, Chrieg will celebrate its world premiere in the prestigious New Directors section at the 62nd International Film Festival San Sebastian. The Swiss films screened in the festival’s new competition called “Focus Switzerland, Germany, Austria” are: Children Of The Arctic by Nick Brandestini, who won the Golden Eye at the ZFF in 2011 with his documentary film Darwin; Dark Star – HR Gigers Welt by Belinda Sallin; Die Demokratie ist los! by Thomas Isler; and Zu Ende leben by Rebecca Panian.

In addition, the following Swiss films will be screened out of competition: Claudio Fäh’s Northmen: A Viking Saga will celebrate its premiere in the Gala Premieres section. Also presented in this section is the coproduction Le Meraviglie, which premiered in Cannes. Daniel von Aarburg’s documentary film Carl Lutz – Der Schweizer Schindler will be screened in the Border Lines section, while the films Freifall – Eine Liebesgeschichte by Mirjam von Arx, Padrone e sotto by Michele Cirigliano, Palace Hotel by Emil Berna and Leonard Steckel, 11:23 – 9:59 (Projekt Angst) by Stefan Jäger, Der Vampir auf der Couch by David Ruehm as well as Ulrich Seidl – A Director At Work by Constantin Wulff will all celebrate their world premieres in the Special Screenings section. A work-in-progress version of Samir’s Iraqi Odyssey will also be screened in this section, out of competition.
