First cinema film from the upper Basle region – the no-budget dialect thriller that gets under the skin. After decades away, Sarah Hirt returns to the village of Rauringen – her childhood village – in the upper Basle region. However, the apparently idyllic rural setting is deceptive: Rauringen has been struck by a mysterious eczema ailment that nobody can explain. The village council is out of its depth, the population is torn between the search for sensation and the fear of death. It is only gradually that the cause of the illness becomes apparent: the figures from old folk legends have returned to the present day. A discovery made in the house of Sarah’s grandfather reveals a dark story from the past.
