Genes of crops are manipulated and newly created plants are cultivated in fields, everywhere and simultaneously all over the world, independent of a country being rich or poor, developed or underdeveloped. Vietnam too is facing the difficult issue of how to deal with this new, promising, but highly dangerous technology. Thomas Isler accompanied a group of Western scientists collaborating with Vietnamese colleagues on environmental issues. He made a film about a country in change, about high hopes in a new technology and about “Buddhist Darwinism”.
