“The perfect human,1967” is one of Lars von Trier's cult films. He defies its creator Jørgen Leth to shoot five remakes of this short opus. For each he will impose a new set of “obstructions”, forcing Leth to rethink the story and the characters of the original version. Leth must obey the restrictions, orders and other interdicts. “Five Obstructions” is a game, with pitfalls and low blows. A fascinating and totally original film about a cineaste who accepts the challenge of recreating one of his first works. A “rite of passage” that takes us to the heart of the process of creative filmmaking.
