The cheerful student Lena firmly believes in happiness and the good in people. As part of a social project, she is sent by the authorities to work as a writing coach for Hugo Drowak who lost his happiness long ago and lives alone in a run-down high-rise building. Despite his notorious nastiness, Lena does not give up trying to inspire him to be creative. She is convinced that everyone deserves a second chance. Reluctantly, Drowak begins to write about the love of his life, awakening the demons of his past. When Lena realises what is going on, she resolutely confronts them.
