Nana Caymmi is held by her colleagues as “the” singer amongst singers. Born to a father who was the emblematic composer Dorival Caymmi, childhood friend and fellow student of the classical pianist Nelson Freire, later married to Gilberto Gil, and acting as the muse of Milton Nascimento, Nana Caymmi has been a leading figure and one of the most important eyewitnesses of Brazilian music history. Also featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim, this film is an encounter with Nana Caymmi, her career and her art, while being a reflection on Brazil's musical life over the past fifty years.
