Thumbeline and Fingerita live alone with their mother at the edge of a forest overlooking a village. As their mother has been injured while wood chopping, the girls have to go into the forest to gather wood, and Fingerita is the more helpful of the two. There the little girl discovers the wonderful world of Old Mother Snow.
