Inspector Maigret is holidaying at the seaside in a hotel run by Louis, an old friend from Paris. A certain Mr. Owen, a very rich art dealer, is also staying at the hotel. One morning the body of a mysterious young man is found in the bathtub. Mr. Owen has disappeared. Who is Mr. Owen? And the other hotel guests? What is Mr. Owen’s nurse hiding? What could Mylène Turner, a well known and rather eccentric actress, have to do with it? Despite his reluctance, Maigret finds himself unravelling the knots of the mystery one by one.
