Jürg, Turi and Franz are trying to find a place in society after their release from prison. Turi lives with Jeanette and her two children, and Jürg is drawn to his parents in the south of Spain. Franz soon finds himself back behind bars. The story of these men is told against the background of the inauguration of a new kind of prison by the Minister of Justice and Police, Arnold Koller. The Idea is to launch a prisoners rehabilitation programme, increasing the size of the cells (from 8 to 11.5m2), reducing the prisoners' isolation, replacing severe refectory-style catering with modern canteen facilities. Life takes a look at the criminal justice system at a time when Switzerland is no longer so cock-sur of conventional values.
